THE GREEN HALL

is the largest room in the castle. The castle was built between 1483 and 1503. During the reign of Johan III extensive renovations were carried out. These were completed by the year 1583. The original ceiling of the green hall was a cassette ceiling in green and gold, thereof the name. This was destroyed in the 1770s when a crown distillery was created on the bottom floor requiring a shaft through the ceiling. Remaining from the 16th century are only the painted upper sections of the window niches, the pattern of which is reminiscent of the no longer existing cassette ceiling.
The hall is now used as a concert venue.
